Enterprise flow

Most AI Initiatives Fail Before They Start, Not After

The first decision is whether the business problem is understood well enough to justify investment.

Executive summary

A visible pilot can create momentum without resolving the constraint that limits the business. Start with enterprise flow, quantify the opportunity and establish ownership before choosing the intervention.

Make the work visible

A departmental process rarely captures the whole business outcome. Trace the work across sales, operations, delivery and finance. Look at the decisions, exceptions and handoffs that determine whether an opportunity becomes revenue, margin or a retained customer.

Find the constraint that matters

Identify where the flow breaks down and what that costs the business. Establish the current performance and the outcome that needs to change. The right response may involve process redesign, clearer accountability, better data or a targeted use of AI. The business problem determines the intervention.

Assign ownership before execution

A sponsor needs to own the outcome financially and operationally. Agree who can change the workflow, which teams must participate and how progress will be reviewed. This creates a basis for learning and adjustment when the initial assumptions meet operating reality.

Turn clarity into an investment conversation

GBIC connects business priorities with operational readiness, data and investment economics. As the opportunity becomes clearer, advisory and specialized delivery capabilities can be scoped around it. The next step is a specific decision about value and execution, rather than another unconnected experiment.

What to take into the next decision

  • Make the full workflow visible across functions.
  • Identify the constraint and establish its financial impact.
  • Choose the intervention after understanding the problem.
